Half-centuries from Mohammad Hafeez, Shadab Khan and Hassan Ali get Pakistan to 246/9 in Nelson – will they be able to defend it and level the series?

Strong finish from Pakistan. At one stage, they were 141/7 and threatened to blow away but Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali with a bag of fireworks wrapped on their back, counter-attacked as the visitors piled as many as 87 runs in the last 10 overs. Both batsmen notched up fifties too. Hafeez was the lone warrior in the first half of the innings where Pakistani batsmen crumbled; failing to rotate strike and were choked for runs. The Kiwis faltered towards the end and now face the prospect of chasing a challenging total.
